Neal is a passionate attorney dedicated to defending his clients from removal. In a system that is far too focused on security, Neal strives to remind judges and adjudicators of the humanity of the people he represents. Neal volunteers his time at the US-Mexico borer in Tijuana, assisting refugees who are fleeing hellish conditions in their home countries. Most recently, Neal worked with people that were part of the Central American Exodus (caravan), who were denied the lawful right to request asylum in the United States. As a believer in the promise of the United States as a nation of immigrants, Neal has sought to reframe the issue of immigration in order to promote a vision of a world without borders, and, of a country that is defined by its compassion and empathy, rather than by its might. Neal has a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of California, Riverside and received his Juris Doctorate degree at Southwestern Law School’s Two-year SCALE Program.
