Mariella Diaz
Ms. Diaz is the humanitarian-based immigration lead attorney at Ramirez Smith Law. She is an expert in most areas of immigration law, having worked in the field since 2006. Her specialization includes humanitarian-based immigration, family-based immigration, and removal defense. She has represented several families in court before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and the Ninth Circuit of Appeals, as well as representing clients in their interviews before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).
Ms. Diaz is deeply passionate about using the law as a vehicle for justice, the preservation of family unity, and expanding pathways to legalization for those navigating the complex U.S. immigration system. With a diverse and extensive background in immigration law, Ms. Diaz skillfully handles matters including adjustment of status, naturalization, consular processing, waivers of inadmissibility, U visas, T visas, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), VAWA, DACA, and deportation defense. Her comprehensive approach and unwavering advocacy make her a trusted ally for clients navigating even the most challenging immigration journeys.
She is deeply committed to community service; she actively volunteers with the Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program, the American Immigration Lawyers Association in Idaho, and broader local initiatives, offering pro bono support to those most in need. As a proud native of Peru, she brings a unique understanding of the cultural and systemic challenges immigrants face, allowing her to advocate with both empathy and precision within a complex legal landscape.
In her leisure time, Ms. Diaz finds balance and inspiration in Idaho’s natural beauty, enjoying outdoor activities such as mountain biking, paddling, snowboarding, hiking, and camping with her family. Fluent in Spanish, she brings a valuable multilingual perspective to her legal community in general, enhancing communication and trust with a diverse client base
Educational Background
Ms. Diaz’s academic journey includes a bachelor’s in international business with a finance minor from Boise State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law, where she earned a place on the Dean’s List of Honors. Mariella was the president of the International Law Society.
